In Being Mortal, renowned surgeon and writer Atul Gawande shares his personal journey as well as stories of his patients and their families as he challenges us all to reexamine the way we think about death and dying.
The film and subsequent panel discussion endeavor to promote conversation about end of life desires, goals of care, and appropriate directives to empower patients to live their lives fully even when time is limited.

Mr. Jonah Ottensoser will be the guest speaker at our Thanksgiving Day breakfast. He is the consulting engineer for the Star K on modern appliances and Shabbat/Yom Tov applications.
He will present a power point presentation outlining his work for the Star K and appliance manufacturers in developing appliances with Shabbat modes and features especially designed for the observant household.
Additionally, he will be answering questions on modern technologies and halacha. Topics covered will include Shabbat/Yom Tov observance and issues relating to using new theological innovations in kitchen equipment, motion detectors and LED monitoring lights on a variety of household appliances, voice activated appliances (e.g. Alexa, Echo), etc
