Laws of Shabbos #153

Pots that are not used for serving are utensils that are designated for forbidden usages (kli shemilachto l’issur), and can therefore may only be moved if one needs the place they are in or if one will use the pot for a permitted use. However, if a pot is on the kitchen floor (something rather common in a household with young children who like to explore the cabinets), one may not move it simply to make the kitchen look clean.
